How To Make Hearing Aids More Enjoyable

Hearing Aid Accessories are beneficial to those who cannot hear very well. It simply aids a person to hear better through a small ear device that is battery operated and picks up sound waves. Building a hearing aid requires knowledge about electronics. One needs to know how to create an aid without static interference.

ALL technology has improved immeasurably in the past six years. It has been my observation that the primary reason that a patient does not wear his hearing aid, is because it is not comfortable to wear. Either from a fit standpoint or from a benefit stand point. If the patient is not choosing to wear the aid- something is wrong. With the technology that is available today, a logical and prudent person will not choose to not wear a hearing aid in the face of the benefit he can get out of wearing it. If he chooses not to wear it, then there is something major wrong.

Resound was a very good product when it first came out and continues to be one of the top technology companies. It has not progressed as far as some of the other companies, in terms of advances, but is a very good product. As with any company or technology- the person who fits the aid is 85% of the success formula and the product is the other 15%. Patients with far lower technologies are happier when fitted by a competent person than the patient who is fitted by a lesser qualified person with a higher technology product. A Ferrari never won a race being driven by a blind timid person. It is still a Ferrari, but if it is driven like a Volkswagon, it becomes a Volkswagon for all intents and purposes.

Types of Hearing Protectors

There’s a wide variety of types of Hearing Aid Accessories protectors available, including ear muffs, foam and preformed ear plugs, and canal caps. Selection is based upon several factors, as described below.

Ear Muffs - These devices fit against the head and enclose the entire external ears. The inside of the muff cup is lined with an acoustic foam which can reduce noise by as much as 15 to 30 decibels. Ear muffs are often used in conjunction with ear plugs to protect the employee from extremely load noises, usually at or above 105 decibels.

Ear Plugs - Preformed ear plugs come in different sizes to fit different sizes of ear canals. Formable or foam ear plugs, if placed in the ear correctly, will expand to fill the ear canal and seal against the walls. This allows foam ear plugs to fit ear canals of different sizes.

Canal Caps - As the name implies, these devices cap off the ear canal at its opening. They generally provide less protection than ear muffs or plugs. These devices are not recommended for use by the EHSC.

Choosing a Hearing Protector

Choosing the right hearing protector depends upon several factors:

- Good seal: sound reduction is dependant upon blocking any air leakage which will allow sound to bypass the hearing protector and enter the ear. For this reason, the hearing protector must fit properly whether over the ear or in the ear.

- Comfort: Both comfort and convenience are important if the device is to be used consistently. The ease of placing and removing the device, as well as environmental factors such as the presence of dirt or chemicals must be considered.

Bluetooth Hearing Aid Technology

When people think of Hearing Aid Accessories, they might think more of old ear trumpets than high-quality, advanced devices, but the integration of Bluetooth with hearing aid technology is changing that. Hearing aid manufacturers are lately using Bluetooth as a tool to improve their products, and each manufacturer is taking a different approach. I first became aware of Bluetooth technology and hearing aids in 2009.For knowing bluetooth hearing aids, we need to first know what bluetooth technology is. Bluetooth Hearing Aid  technology is a method to exchange data over short distances, from cell phone devices. It is an open wireless protocol which creates personal area networks. So now, you need not be an Einstein to know how effective it would be, when attached to or embedded in a hearing aid. Hearing aid is a small electronic device worn at the back of the ear, to amplify sound, so that a deaf or a partially deaf individual can hear clearly.

Bluetooth Hearing Aid essentially creates a tiny wireless network between multiple devices, for a multitude of purposes. What Good is Bluetooth for Hearing Aids? Bluetooth can be used to allow a wearer’s hearing aids to communicate with hands-free devices, like music players and cellphones. It can also be used to allow two hearing aids to communicate to one another, which enhances a user’s hearing experience. Bluetooth hearing aids often come with an additional device, specific to each manufacturer
